The SLPP 2012 Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. Kadi Sisay appeared before Magistrate Mohamed Seray Wurie of Freetown Magistrate Court No.6 yesterday to testify in a matter involving the sum of over Two hundred million Leones that was stolen from her private residence at her Hill Station.
In her testimony in court, the factual prosecution witness who also happens to be the complainant in the matter, Dr. Kadi Sisay told the court that she recognized and knows the first accused who she contacted to assist her find a domestic staff.
The witness said that following her request, the first accused brought her one Abdul Rahman Sesay who she said she eventually employed as a cleaner.
She said she recalled between December 2015 and January 2016 when she started observing an unusual movement at her residence, particularly in her bedroom, since she employed the said cleaner who is still on the run.
At first, the witness said she noticed the missing of one of her gold necklaces, and since then she had cause to ban the cleaner not to clean her master bedroom anymore but instructed him to clean the whole house with the exception of her room.
The witness further stated that since she took that action, she took possession of the keys to her bedroom and did not allow anyone to clean her bedroom anymore.
She said even when she retrieved the keys and prevented anyone from entering her room her jewels and monies still went missing but she did not take it seriously.
The witness continued that in January 2016, she opened one of her drawers as usual to collect the sum of Three Million Leones to pay salaries to her staff. Upon opening the said drawer where she kept her Leones currency she could not find a single cent.
She said she opened the other drawer containing foreign currency and could not find a dime. She told the court that she was shell-shocked and her head almost blew off. The witness said she became frustrated and raised an alarm.
After days of intensive private investigations, she reported the matter to the CID Headquarters for further investigation as the main suspect was nowhere to be seen.
Four suspects: Kadie Coker, Kanko Samura, Fatmata Turay and Bai John Kamara were arrested and charged to court on five counts ranging from receiving stolen goods contrary to Section 33 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916 and Accessory after the fact to Larceny Dwelling House contrary to law.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused persons on the 1st January 2016 at No.29A Sunshine Valley Hill Station in Freetown did receive property and cash including Leones loaded in two rice bags, US Dollars and Pounds Sterling, property of Dr. Kadi Sisay knowing same to have been stolen.
The accused persons are not on bail and have been remanded at the Correctional Centre whilst the main suspect, Abdul Rahman Sisay is on the run.
The exhibits and a cash of Nine Million Leones were brought in to the court yesterday. The matter continues next week.
