The Sierra Leone Police has laid siege on the party office of the All People’s Congress (APC) in Freetown, Sierraloaded can authoritatively report.
The siege comes in wake of a planned action by the party members to demand the release of a former cabinet Minister, Alfred Paolo Conteh who has been at CID detention since Friday for corruption related offences during the Ernest Bai Koroma administration.
The party had earlier protested the detention of their members on Saturday with the likes of former Presidential aspirant, Samura Kamara and other party stakeholders leading the action. But the protest failed to yield any result as the detained Minister is still in custody.
Another protest has been scheduled for today Monday, December 31st 2018. The party had told it’s members and supporters to converge at the party office today before the protest will take off.
However, the action may not materialize with the police barricading the opposition party office. Witness reports also has it that the police fired teargas into the headquarters of the main opposition All People’s Congress party. They’ve surrounded the building with some party supporters still inside.
Sierraloaded is monitoring the situation. Stay tuned for more updates…
