Alfred Paolo Conteh, Sierra Leone’s former defence minister under ex-President Ernest Koroma has been granted bail of Le 40 Billion.

The former Minister and his deputy at the ministry, Sannah Marrah,were arrested on Friday in connection with several alleged military procurement irregularities.

“After the discussions, we decided to detain them both

“We are building up our case now and will have to charge them within 10 days in order to keep them in custody.”, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) head Francis Kaifala told reporters.

The detention attracted over one hundred supporters of Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, All People’s Congress (APC) including its flagbearer in the 2018 general elections, Dr. Samura Kamara who stormed the police headquarters in Freetown on Saturday to protest the arrest and detention of the former minister.
