With a quarter of the presidential election result just released by the National Electoral Commission, ruling party candidate, Dr Samura Kamara leads with 291,933 votes representing 44.64%.
He’s followed by the main opposition challenger Julius Maada Bio with 274,352 (41.94%). Dr Kandeh Yumkella is third with 43,117 (6.59%) and Samuel Sam-Sumana is fourth with 21,713 amounting to 3.32%.
The remaining 12 candidates share the rest of the spoils. 55% is required to avoid a runoff between the eventual top two candidates.
