Files and data of thousands of Sierra Leoneans who registered to vote in the elections scheduled for March 2018 in Sierra Leone have been lost.

Sierraloaded reports that these data includes names, pictures, biometric captures, address and other basic informations of people who participated in the last voters registeration exercise in Sierra Leone.

Figures from the National Electoral Commission (NEC) shows that as many as 3,128,967 Sierra Leoneans were registered as eligible voters at the conclusion of the voter registration exercise which was held in March 2017. However, the safety and fate of these collected data is unknown following its sudden disappearance.

When ccontacted, the electoral commission didn’t deny the report but has blamed it on faulty machines, assuring it has the capacity to retrieve or recapture the lost information before the polls in March 2018.
