Two accused, Ibrahim Taqi alias Target and Osman Kamara were yesterday arraigned before Magistrate Binneh Kamara of Magistrate Court No. 1 for impersonating the Freetown City Council Metropolitan.
The first accused is charged with five counts while jointly charged on the first count with the second accused.
According to their particulars of offence, the two accused on Thursday 11th February at Sani Abacha Street in Freetown “assumed the characters of City Council police officers by pretending to be members of the Freetown City Council.
Counts 2 5, which apply to the first accused, are embedded under larceny by trick which is contrary to the Larceny Act of 1916.
The four count charge of larceny by trick states that the accused stole from various persons the following items: 7 midis and a skirt, thirty-six pairs of slippers and ladies dresses valued the total sum of eight hundred and fifty one thousand Leones (Le 851, 000)
Both accused pleaded not guilty to the said charges.
Although defence counsel, J.M.Lengor applied for bail on behalf of the accused, the accused are still in remand while the matter was adjourned to 22nd February 2016.
