58 year-old Tunisian national, Hassine Benfre (accused), was on Tuesday 15th March 2016 remanded at the Pademba Road Correctional Center in Freetown for allegedly duping Nuno Neves, Manager of Radison Blu Mammy Yoko Hotel the sum of Le182, 674, 717.28.
The accused, who is a consultant, made his first appearance before Magistrate Dr. Binneh Kamara of court No.1 on one count of obtaining credit under false pretense contrary to section 13 (1) of the Debtors Act 1869.
Evidence adduced in court states that Hassine Benfre between 7th November 2015 – 25th February 2016 at Radison Blu Mammy Yoko Hotel, Aberdeen in Freetown, incurred a debt or liability to Nuno Neves by obtaining credit amounting to one hundred and eighty two million, six hundred and seventy-four thousand, seven hundred and seventeen Leones, twenty eight cent (Le182, 674, 717.28).
The accused did not take a plea while the matter was adjourned to 22nd March 2016.
No legal representation was made on behalf of the accused while Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Samuel Kamara is prosecuting the matter on behalf of the Inspector General of Police.
