The annual Trade Fare and Exhibition of the Sierra Leone Chamber of Commerce and Industry has begun, the chamber said Friday.
The three-week business exhibition being hosted at the National Stadium in Freetown involves both local products and those from elsewhere in West Africa, disclosed Dr Julius Spencer, Managing Director of Premier Media Consultancy, the company contracted to organise the programme.
He said business people are coming from countries like Senegal, Mali and The Gambia.
The fair provides an opportunity for local businesses to be exhibited and foster sub regional trade, said the Chamber.
The annual event also serves as a revenue generation source for the chamber.
According to its figures, last year the chamber generated Le1billion ($200, 000), after spending about Le700m ($140, 000).
