RSLAF contender Daniel Lasaio (Hot Temper) will fight Abubakarr Katta (Target) of the Sierra Leone Police in an 8-round professional bout on Friday March 25th at the Lawn Tennis Court in the Siaka Steven Stadium, Freetown.
The bout which is organised by the Sierra Leone Boxing Association (SLBA) will see both boxers’ battles in the ring for the tittle in the 69kg welterweight premium fight.
“Fighting for the welterweight title has been my dream since I started boxing. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to turn that dream into reality. Lasaio is a great fighter and a hungry competitor so I am going to have to produce the performance of my career to claim that tittle,” Katta said.
The fight will be Lasaio’s first bout since he returned from Cuba and he has threatened to “knock out” Katta.
He said: “I’m coming to the ring to make a statement that I am the best welterweight boxer in the country and no-one is taking my title.
“I’m a born champion, but that doesn’t mean just sit back and make easy defences. It means facing the biggest challenges out there.”
Additional action inside the ring features 8 other boxers from Police, RSLAF, Correctional Centre (Prison) and Twana Boxing Clubs in a 3-round bout.
