At about 12:38hrs this afternoon the Police received a distressed call from the Counsellor of Mayaya, Lungi that a boat called Family Blessing have capsized at sea.
The boat was from Freetown to Yeliboya with assorted goods and twenty three passengers on board. It ran into one of the most dangerous stones at sea near Lungi Wharf, this led the boat to capsized.
Thank God all the passengers were rescued at sea including two children at the ages of three years respectively together with two pregnant women. Due to their conditions they were later refered to Lungi the Government hospital for treatment.
The Lungi police personnel today again played a pivotal role in overseeing the rescue mission and provided security for the commercial wares of the people from the island of Tallboys together with Navy personnel from the RSLAF.
