The Ministry of Sports and the National Sports Council of Sierra Leone have issued a press release signed by the Sports Minister, Paul Kamara dated Thursday 26th November, 2015 addressed to the general public especially to the stakeholders of the Sierra Leone Athletics Association (SLAA).
The press released stated that “following the illegal electoral congress that was organized by stakeholders of the Sierra Leone Athletics Association on the 20th November 2015 at the Hill valley Hotel in Freetown; the Ministry of Sports and the National Sports Council has unanimously agreed to barricade the office of the SLAA secretariat at the National Stadium until further notice.
According to the Minister of Sports Paul Kamara, “Horace Dove-Edwin lacks locus standi to participate in all sports activities due to his life time ban by WADA for doping.
He said Michael Felix Rowe one of the architects of the illegal electoral congress of SLAA is suspended indefinitely from all sporting activities and that all the so-called delegates that attended the illegal congress and defied the instructions of the NSC/MoS and the National Olympic Committee are also suspended indefinitely.
The Sports Minister furthermore stated that the delegates will not participate in any forthcoming meeting, congress or activities of SLAA and other sporting activities.
He said the Deputy Minister of Lands, Housing and Country Planning; Hon Ahmed Khanou shall immediately cease to continue as Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Volleyball Association in conformity with cabinet approval of the National Sports Policy 2015 and also in default of the oath of office not to hold any other position as Deputy Minister.
