While many might have been commending the effort of the Ernest Bai Koroma led Sierra Leone government on the recent commissioning of the newly constructed Regional and Divisional Headquarters of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) in Lumley, facts has emerged on how the project was undertaken.
In his speech and press release about the event, President Koroma refused to give details on how the project was executed. Instead, He tried to give credit to himself stating that “the structures have the capacity to adequately address the needs of the communities”.
The Police Inspector General, Francis Alieu Munu also refused to speak on how the structure was funded and executed. Rather, He presented himself as the advocate and brain behind the project boasting that “he would change the face of the SLP infrastructure across the country”
Reliable sources has however told Sierraloaded that the police facilities was largely funded by Sport-betting company, Mercury International.
According to Umaru Fofona, “..while Govt and the Police seem to take credit for the facilities the release doesn’t have the honesty to the people to say that the new police station was NOT built by them..”
For Umaru, That truth doesn’t take anything away – just honesty and accountability to the people.
