Magistrate Albert moody of Freetown Magistrate Court No.2 last Friday detained Abu-Bakarr Turay (senior) a military personnel and his son Abu-Bakarr Turay (junior) for physically abusing Mariama Jimmy a school teacher and her son Ibrahim Ansumana.
The two accused are tried on three count charges ranging from conspiracy contrary to law and domestic violence contrary to section 2(1) of the Domestic Violence Act of 2007.
It was alleged that both accused on the 30th of July 2015, flogged and physically abused the complainant and her son who were also their tenants.
On the 23rd of February this year, the accused were arrested and on the same day put on ten million Leones bail with one surety each.
However, following the testimony of the first prosecution witness, Mariama Jimmy, the magistrate ordered that both accused be locked up with immediate effect in order to prevent them from further interference with prosecution witnesses.
The matter was adjourned to the 17th of March 2016.
