Sierra Leone’s president, Ernest Bai Koroma has sacked his controversial gender and children’s minister, Dr Sylvia Blyden and her deputy Rugiatu Neneh Koroma after less than two years in office.

It follows months of sometimes vitriolic public spats between the two which got to a head this morning on the local Radio Democracy breakfast show.

Their predecessors were sacked under similar circumstances in March last year after they were also involved in a public brawl that shocked the nation.
