The two leading opposition political parties in Sierra Leone, Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and the Alliance Democratic Party (ADP) over the weekend demonstrated a very high level of political tolerance in which they extended very romantic hug to each other.
The two political figures met at a point in the city as they were parading thousands of their supporters, party members and loyalists along major streets of the township.
The event was made more memorable and entertaining when the National Chairman and Leader/Presidential Candidate of the ADP, Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray and SLPP’s Maada Bio stepped down their vehicles and warmly hugged each other in public, showing peace, love, political maturity and tolerance among them and their parties.
The show of love and oneness by the two politicians, thrilled supporters from both parties and a scenario of joyful noise, singing, drumming and dancing overtook the entire event.
Reports say the two politicians held a brief close-ear discussion whiles hugging and they both separated with loud laughing and sweet smiles to each other and their supporters continued the jolly time.
Political analysts who witnessed the historic moment say if all politicians and their parties could copy the footsteps of Maada Bio and Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray by showing similar political maturity and tolerance, Sierra Leone will be a better place and the 2018 elections will be another world record breaking event.
