A fourteen (14) year old, resident of Havelock Street off Mountain Cut in Freetown was yesterday remanded at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre for the alleged murder of one Hassan Bittar (Jr.) of the same address in Freetown.
The accused is facing preliminary Investigation before Magistrate Mohamed Seray Wurie of Court No 6 on one count of murder contrary to law.
The particulars of offence state that the accused between the 12 and 13 November 2015 at the above address in Freetown allegedly murdered Hassan Bittar.
In his evidence in court, the first prosecution witness Samuel Unisa Conteh a resident of the same community told the court that he recognized both the accused and the now deceased in the matter.
He said he recalled on the said date whiles at his #7B Havelock Street at around 4:35pm he heard the deceased elder brother Mamoud quarreling with one Gabriel.
The witness continued that whiles the quarrel was going on, he saw the accused approached the elder brother of the deceased asking him as to why he Mamoud hit Gabriel.
He said he heard Mamoud telling the accused that he had cause to hit Gabriel because he destroyed his mobile phone.
The witness said later a quarrel broke out between the accused and Mamoud, the elder brother of the deceased and Mamoud went into his apartment whiles the accused stayed out.
He said he then saw the accused entered into his apartment and came out running towards the deceased. The witness went on that he later heard the voice of one Zainab saying run and after a while he heard again the voice of one Dora Kamara saying the accused had killed Hassan Bittar who is now deceased.
The deceased was later taken to the Connaught Hospital by community youths while the accused went on the run.
The accused was later arrested at his hiding at Moriba, Goderich in Freetown and handed over to the Police at Eastern Police division.
The accused was not represented by counsel and the matter has been adjoined to the 14th January, 2016.
