Pupils of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School at Kissy Dock Yard were full of praises for the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President, Isha Johansen whom they described as an “icon” worth emulating.
Madam Johansen and her Vice President were in Ahmadiyya to monitor the distribution of the Samuel Eto scholarship worth over 57 Million Leones and the turning of the sod for the more than 1000 capacity Isha Johansen Hall at the school compound.
Addressing the pupils on their roles in society, the SLFA President explained that Samuel Eto’s 100 scholarship should be utilized for its intended purpose. She noted that the international football star has fallen in love with Sierra Leone and Ahmadiyya and therefore optimistic that more good things are sure to follow.
“This school is renowned for producing athletes and is one of those schools that have deprived children as pupils. With this 100 scholarship from Samuel Eto and my initial 50, I’m sure deprived children will have the opportunity to be educated. I hope other philanthropists will come on board and help the future leaders of this country,” she said.
Responding, Mariama Kargbo, who is one of the beneficiaries said the scholarship was timely and expressed hopes that Samuel Eto and the FA President will continue to do more for the school.
“Thank you SLFA, thank you Madam Isha and thank you Samuel Eto,” she concluded.
The program was climaxed with the turning of the sod and prayers from the Ahmadiyya Amir in Sierra Leone and the pupils of the school.
