An Indian national presently residing in Freetown has been incarcerated at the Pademba road Correctional Centre for allegedly stealing building materials worth one hundred and forty-five million Leones (Le 145m) in Freetown.
It was alleged that Kaniyala Adwani while working as a store keeper at no 24 Charles Street, stole assorted building materials belonging to the complainant Pradeep Jethwani also an Indian National.
The matter is being investigated at the Siaka Steven Street Magistrate Court in Freetown presided by principal Magistrate Abkubhakarr Binneh Kamara while the matter was prosecuted by Inspector Hawa Bah, associated with lawyer A N Tejan-Sie.
Police reports stated that on Wednesday 19th October 2016 Adwani stole assorted building material including 353 cartoons of big packet wire nails containing 15 packets each valued at Le 35m, 436 head-pans valued at Le 8,720, 000, roofing nails valued at Le 30m, 47 dozens of pickaxes and other items valued at Le 56, 670, 000 all to the total tune of Le 145m.
Adwani was charged to court on three counts of related charges of Larceny by servant and during the proceedings no witness was presented in court to testify against the accused and the matter was adjourned to 3rd November 2016.
