The matter that involves the burning of both hands of a 5year old class one pupil for Le500 (five hundred Leones) has been committed to the high court of Sierra Leone for further trial.
Magistrate Abu Bakarr Binneh Kamara, before committing the matter on Tuesday 14th February 2017 stated that after looking at the evidence before him he is satisfied that the two accused persons in the said matter has a case to answer.
The two accused persons, Baindu Conteh (Sister) and Isatu Kamara (Aunty) were taken to court on one count charge of child cruelty contrary to section 4 (1) of the prevention of cruelty to children’s act (cap31) of the laws of Sierra Leone 1960.
The particulars of offense revealed that the two accused persons on Saturday 1st October 2016 at Biango Town, off Wilkinson Road maliciously wounded a child below the age of 18 to wit 5years old.
The 5year old while testifying in court, recognized the first and second accused person as her sister and aunt respectively.
She added that the two accused persons accused her of stealing 500 Leones which she said was given to her by the first accused after fetching water for her.
She furthered that the first accused picked up a knife and gave it to the 2nd accused and that the second accused put the knife on fire and burnt her hands.
“I felt pain all over my body,” she said.
Meanwhile, the 2 accused persons were placed on 50 million Leones bail with one surety and each surety should produce a national passport.
