Magistrate Dr. Binneh Kamara of court No.1 on Monday 7th March 2016 ordered with immediate effect the deportation of a Pakistani national, Zulfigar Bhatti Alie (accused) for illegally entering Sierra Leone.
Delivering his ruling, Dr. Kamara stated that the accused was standing trial on two counts of entering Sierra Leone without a valid traveling credential contrary to section 19 (2) (f) (1) (a) of the Non-Citizens Registration Immigration and Expulsion Act 1965 and using a forged visa contrary to section 26 (1) Act No.14 of the Non-Citizens Registration Immigration and Expulsion Act 1965.
According to evidence adduced in court, the accused on 28th January 2016 at the Freetown International Airport, Lungi, Port Loko District in the Northern Province of the Republic of Sierra Leone illegally entered Sierra Leone without valid traveling documents, without lawful authority and used a forged document with a Sierra Leone Immigration Department landing visa.
Magistrate Dr. Binneh Kamara furthered that the accused pleaded guilty to the charges levied against him on Monday 29th March 2016 for which he ordered his deportation with immediate effect.
The matter was first heard on 19th March 2016 with the accused making five appearances before his deportation.
The accused has been in prison from the time the matter was charged to court unto deportation.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Raymond B. Dunia prosecuted the matter on behalf of the Inspector General of Police while I.P. Mamie represented the accused.
