While Sierra Leoneans are busy finding it very difficult to eke out a living, one million United States dollar is believed to have been spent on a 50 man delegation that went to the United Nations 71st General Assembly in New York.
This was made known to Sierra Leoneans by the Chairman and Leader of the Alliance Democratic Party (ADP) , Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray.
“Some of the people in the delegation have no business in the UN summit and they will bring no good for the country, they are just there to waste the country’s money,” Kamarainba said.
In this vein, some of the people who went to the UN summits from Sierra Leone including Government Ministers and the majority leader were seen partying and dancing in the Streets of New York.
While ministers of other countries were busy networking in the United Nations, Sierra Leone’s Majority Leader, Ibrahim Bundu, Minister of Information and Communication, Mohamed Bangura and the Minister of Tourism, Sidi Yayah Tunis were seen dancing and partying in front of the United Nations Headquarters.
The leaked video which is now all over the world has made Sierra Leone a mockery and an unserious state as the Ministers and the majority leader were busy singing and dancing to a local music called, “Send am go dong.”
Most Sierra Leones have condemned the act of the majority leader of Parliament and the Ministers, stating that they have just given credence to the claimed made by ADP’s Kamrainba Mansaray that most of them had no business in the UN Summit.
“Why can’t they dance? They have just eaten one million dollars when Sierra Leoneans are suffering, ” says Abdulai Sesay.
“This is very ridiculous. They have just made mockery of themselves and the country,” Samuela Turay said.
Meanwhile the Government who failed to inform Sierra Leone about the delegation to the UN Summit through its spokes people has said that only 21 people left Sierra Leone for New York to attend the summit. They also denied the one million dollar controversy that was spent on the delegation.
