Presenter of the widely listened MONOLOGUE radio program, Dr. David Tam-Baryoh has during the Saturday 23rd July 2016 Monologue Programme, aired on different radio frequencies across the country, disclosed that the Sudanese foreigner who is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AfCOM SL Ltd., Mr. Adel Suliman has pleaded to refund the current equivalent of over half a billion leones (Le500,000,000.00) which was paid by Donors to AFCOM.
The cash was meant for the installation of Internet Equipment as well as High Speed Internet Access to enable the smooth functioning of a Child Protection Information Management System in the ministry’s offices in 14 district locations across the country.
Adel Suliman, who himself is a foreigner from Sudan has been one of around ten suspects in a massive fraud conspiracy saga, which was unearthed by the Honourable Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs Dr. Sylvia Blyden.
Hon. Blyden has tendered a ten paged letter and over two hundred pages of evidence to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Sierra Leone Police for proper probing into the corrupt conspiratorial clique.
In the ten paged letter forwarded to the CID, Hon. Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden cited persons whom she suggested will be very helpful during Police investigations.
Moreover, Hon. Blyden had walked into the studio during the Live Monologue programme requesting to be put on air. This was acceded to by Dr. Tam Baryoh who had that night been criticizing the Minister.
In her live interview, Hon. Blyden did mention that she had been informed of such an offer by the AFCOM Chief but that she unreservedly rejected the proposal brought to her by an acquaintance of the Sudanese businessman.
Hon. Blyden said that since the corrupt act has already been done, it would be contravening the Agenda of President Koroma and the Manifesto of the ruling APC party for her to compromise.
She reminded that the President campaigned on a platform of zero tolerance to corruption so she opined that reversing the case forwarded to the CID will only aid corruption.
She furthered that she is taking the bold step to expose the corrupt deals of AfCOM that has led to “lies” being served the President at State House about the installation of the Child Protection systems.
She passionately stated that people should know that this was an issue involving the welfare of the children of Sierra Leone.
Furthermore, Hon. Dr. Blyden explained in the Monologue programme that her crusade against the corrupt foreigner from Sudan and civil servants in her office was being done in line with the APC’s manifesto upon which the President was elected.
“I am merely doing what we promised the APC will do if we are elected. If I did not take these steps, but allow them continue to mislead the President that the Child Protection system was functioning well, then God Almighty will punish me,” , Blyden stated.
