The Leader and Chairman of the Alliance Democratic Party (ADP), Mr. Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray has filed in petition papers in the registry of the apex Court challenging the eligibility of the candidature of Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo as Member of Parliament for Constituency 030 in Bombali district and also authorising the Court to slam an injunction on IB Kargbo pending the hearing and determination of the substantive matter.
In a press release issued by Kamarainba on the 12th January 2016 states that the petition is filed against I. B Kargbo substantive Special Adviser to President Koroma, the National Electoral Commission (NEC), the national returning officer of NEC and the Bombali district returning officer.
The release further stated that Ibrahim Ben Kargbo is not qualify to be member of Parliament by virtue of the fact he is Special Adviser to President Koroma receiving monthly salaries from the consolidated fund and as such he is a public officer, adding for him to be qualify to contest the December 12 by-election he was required to resign from his position and further stop receiving salary as of December 2014 according to law.
The release accused Ibrahim Kargbo of violating section 63 sub-section (2a) of the Public Elections Act of 2012 and section 76 sub-section 1(b) Act No. 6 of the 1991 Constitution.
Kamarainba said the petition is primarily geared towards promoting good governance and upholding the rule of law in Sierra Leone.
He concluded that his party will continue to serve as the Voice for voiceless Sierra Leoneans.
